A little bit about us:

Laura Eckstrom Deal was born with the love of horses. She dreamed of riding Friesians on a beach for most of her childhood and then finally at age 14, she got her first horses. She rode them bareback, day and night, throughout the fields of this very property and has not been without at least one horse of her own ever since. As an adult, she continued her horse career as a hunter/jumper competing successfully in the “A” Arizona show circuit. Now that she is back in Tennessee, her passion is running and managing our equine retirement farm and overseeing horse rehabilitation. She is also going to be breeding her beautiful Thoroughbred mare for the first time this year. Wish her luck!

Kiersten Eckstrom never had a chance of not being a horse enthusiast. She got her first pony at age 2 (Merry Christmas!) and started taking riding lessons at 5. She competed successfully in the Arizona hunter/jumper show circuit and worked as a groom for her instructor and then spent her summers as her working student and assistant trainer. She worked and studied under several instructors in Southern California and Canada. Most recently she completed a Riding Master III, barn management, and equine massage certification through the renowned Meredith Manor International Equestrian Centre. Now, she is devoted to taking care of the equine rehabilitation and retired horses of Family Hill Farm and is starting a small training and sales business focusing on finding new homes and careers for off-the-track Thoroughbreds.
